- Is responsible for implementation and adherence of the policies and procedures to ensure the standards of resident care and services.
- Oversees all Departments and Dept. Heads including, but not limited to: Director of Nursing, Director of Maintenance, Director of Rehab, Director of Social Work, Director of Dining Services, Director of Admissions, Director of Recreation, and Director of Housekeeping and Laundry
- Assures the financial stability of the facility through annual budgeting, master staffing and strategic planning.
- Be responsible for the day to day operation of the facility; including, but not limited to, general supervision, hiring and employee termination.
- Employ or otherwise arrange for the services of such personnel as are required by the facility.
- Ensures the integration of the services of the facility with the community health resources
- Involves staff at all levels in developing and implementing an interdisciplinary approach to resident service
- Initiates programs and policies between departments
- Approves Job Descriptions for all staff.
- Conducts Department Head meeting, QAPI meetings, Safety meetings, etc. with minutes kept on file in the administration office
- Conducts other required committee meetings and staff meetings as necessary
- Be readily accessible to staff and residents for consultation
- Involve Resident Council in addressing the need to achieve compromise between conflicting resident and staff interests and their needs
- Encourage professional and respectful behavior on the part of the staff towards residents.
- Assure that a method is implemented to promptly deal with complaints and recommendations made by residents or designated representative
- Analyzes all new equipment and work processes for safety and Personal Protective Equipment use.
- Provides training in safe work procedures. Supervises and evaluates employees for safety and health performance.
- Reports and analyzes all accidents and near accidents. Takes steps to prevent future occurrences.
- Responsible for excellent outcomes and minimum deficiencies for NYS, federal surveys and inspections, including infection control surveys.
- Works with the DON and Infection Preventionist to manage and control infection control practices; ensure adequate PPE and training.
- Adheres to all state and federal regulations.
- Reviews admissions to make sure facility can meet level of care requirements for potential admits.
Requirements:
- NYS Nursing Home Administrator License, Active & in Good-Standing
- Pleasant personality and ability to work with residents, families, and staff from various departments
- Working knowledge of the resident care processes.
- Must maintain a professional appearance as it pertains to representing the facility, community relations, and community outreach.
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations regarding health care.
- May be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
- Bachelor's degree in any healthcare related field or equivalent experience in a Long Term Care facility.
- Shall meet all the requirements and conditions set forth by the New York State Department of Health, Board of Nursing Home Licensure
- Minimum of three to five years experience in the areas of long term care.
