Position: Assistant Tasting Room Manager
Location: Talent, OR
Schedule: Full time, Thursday through Monday
Rate: $18.00 - $20.00 / hour plus tips
Position Summary
This position will join the cohesive team at Naumes Suncrest Winery in Talent, Oregon to host tasting room experiences, lead events and achieve tasting room sales goals.
The Naumes family has been farming in Southern Oregon for over 100 years, beginning with pear orchards in the Rogue Valley. Our tasting room is in a timeless farmhouse that has been in the family for generations and is now surrounded by 20 acres of estate vineyards. The Naumes Suncrest Winery features a large open layout with panoramic views of the Rogue Valley. The property features 20 estate vineyards and showcases varietals such as Tempranillo, Syrah, and Barbara.
Join our vibrant team and work directly alongside the manager in managing the tasting room, events, and wine club. Provide visitors with excellent customer service among breathtaking scenery.
Key Accountabilities:
Daily Operations
• Tasting Room coverage Thursday through Monday during all hours of operation as well as special events
• Leads the daily operations of the Tasting Room to achieve revenue goals and club member growth
• Manages daily business operations including but not limited to inventory management of wine, tasting room supplies, beverages and kitchen supplies, shipping, and reporting
• Oversees Tasting Room staff scheduling, development, and supervision
• Provides outreach with other wineries and represents the winery at industry events
Events & Live Music
• Plan and execute events at the tasting room, including public events (Kentucky Derby, Easter, Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, etc) and privately booked events.
• Correspond with any inquiries for private bookings, including scheduling walk-throughs, providing price estimates, and finalizing menu items.
• Setup and management during private events.
• Additional outreach to increase private event bookings.
Public Events & Live Music
• Book weekly live music, as well as bands for concert series.
• Create tickets for paid events.
• Post public events to marketing channels, including the event calendar on naumessuncrestwinery.com, Facebook events, and event emails.
Wine Club
• Create and manage club releases in Orderport, three times a year.
• Work with the tasting room team to finalize club release party details and create event signups.
• Create and send communications and event information to club members for wine club shipments.
• Create and manage surveys and pick up reminders after club release parties.
Qualifications
• OLCC Alcohol Server's Permit.
• Oregon Food Handler's Card.
• Exceptional customer service people and sales skills with strong rapport-building abilities.
• General knowledge and appreciation of wine and wine production and willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level. Advanced Excel skills are desirable.
• Functional understanding of CRM and POS systems. Familiarity with Orderport is a plus.
• Excellence in creating and providing guest experiences in line with the winery’s core values and brand image.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of detail.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and be self-directed.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Physical Requirements + Work Environment:
The physical demands of this job will include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis, the ability to work in a standing or walking position for long periods, the ability to stock wine and non-wine merchandise effectively, set-up and break down structures, tables, etc., and be able to utilize carts and other equipment to assist in moving heavy objects. The work environment of this position involves working in close quarters with others.
