In October 2021, we launched our new ‘Food Club & Opportunity Hub’ to expand efficient, impactful healthy food assistance with the on-site integration of other pathway programs. More recently, we announced a partnership with Dwelling Place to help address the affordable housing crisis here in Holland. In July 2023, we publicly launched our expansion of Lakeshore Food Rescue (

Compensation & Benefits: $48,000 - $58,000 annual salary; eligible for full-time benefits


Summary

The Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for connecting individuals, corporations and institutions to our mission and vision through giving and engagement opportunities. This position co-creates major and corporate donor giving strategies with the Vice President of Development and then executes and manages a portfolio of major and corporate donors. This position supports the organization by cultivating one-time and annual major gifts, sponsorships, capital gifts, and legacy gifts.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties

    • Manages an annual donor portfolio of up to 175 major donor relationships (individuals, businesses, corporations, foundations); which includes researching, prospecting, qualification, cultivation, requesting and stewardship of donors.
    • Assists Vice President of Development to create annual revenue targets and annual fundraising strategy to support overall philanthropic goals within the major giving, corporate giving, capital and legacy programs at Community Action House.
    • Work closely with the Development Team to identify flexible funding to fulfill revenue gaps as part of overall fundraising strategy.
    • Cultivates and solicits event sponsorships to underwrite and support key events annually (Golf Classic, Farm to Food, CommunityFest and VolBash).
    • Collaborates with the Vice President of Development to enhance and relaunch a Legacy Giving program.
    • With support from the VP of Development, implements strategies and activities to build a pipeline of legacy donors and prospects, including the identification of legacy donors with the capacity to make current mid-level and major gifts.
    • Supports the CEO and VP of Development to co-create capital campaign strategies and timelines, identify prospective donors, and execute fundraising strategies to meet campaign goals.
    • Works cross functionally with the Communications team to support donor communications and corporate fundraising strategies.
    • Represents Community Action House at external networking events to strengthen brand affinity & liaise with Major and Corporate donors.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received

    • General Direction: Receives broad guidance and direction and has some autonomy in decision-making and flexibility in determining how to achieve goals. Supervisor provides support and resources as needed but may not be directly involved in day-to-day decision-making or task assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Informal Supervisor: Does not have formal people leading (supervisory) responsibilities. May influence others based on their expertise or relationships; lead projects with other teammates; and/or provide guidance or mentoring to other colleagues.

Education & Experience

    • 4+ years of relevant experience required
    • Bachelor's Degree required.; or in place of a degree, equivalent years of experience
    • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain)
    • Basic conversational Spanish proficiency desired

Qualifications

    • Proven ability to successfully manage donor relationships (or equivalent external stakeholder relationships).
    • Successful experience managing a portfolio of revenue from diverse sources.
    • Highly conscientious with strong attention to detail.
    • Strong storytelling and public speaking skills.
    • Ability to listen actively and ask open ended questions.
    • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects on time and on specification.
    • Experience using various software systems and donor constituent relationship management (CRM) technologies.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively on a team on multiple concurrent projects.
