Job Title: Automotive Detail / Lot Manager Location: Tumwater, WA Company: Toyota of Olympia Job Summary: The Automotive Detail / Lot Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dealership’s detailing department and lot management. This role ensures that all vehicles are meticulously cleaned, organized, and presented to meet the dealership’s high standards. The manager will also oversee a team of detailers and lot attendants, ensuring efficiency and excellence in all tasks. Key Responsibilities: Team Management:

  • Supervise, train, and support the detailing team and lot attendants.
  • Schedule and allocate work assignments to ensure timely completion of tasks based on business needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
  • Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure all team members understand their responsibilities and are actively engaged in their tasks.
  • Know the location and activity of all team members at any given time, ensuring no one is idle.
  • Regularly check in with team members to understand their career aspirations and develop plans to help them reach their goals.
  • Actively participate in tasks alongside the team, demonstrating a willingness to perform any task you ask of them.
Detailing Operations:
  • Ensure all vehicles are detailed and put on the lot immediately after cleaning.
  • Oversee interior and exterior cleaning, waxing, polishing, and any additional detailing services.
  • Inspect completed work for quality assurance and address any deficiencies.
Lot Management:
  • Organize and maintain the vehicle lot to ensure efficient use of space and easy accessibility.
  • Monitor and manage the movement of vehicles within the lot.
  • Ensure that vehicles are properly tagged, priced, and displayed according to dealership standards.
  • Walk the lot daily to verify that all cars have the correct and required stickers and are displayed well.
  • Ensure the lot is dynamic with vehicles being displayed well and regularly rearranged for optimal presentation.
  • Ensure the lot staff walks the lot daily and inspects all vehicles to ensure they are clean, have no odd smells, and have gas for demos.
Inventory Control:
  • Conduct a monthly inventory check of all new and pre-owned inventory during the first week of every month.
  • Coordinate with the Sales Management team to obtain current inventory lists.
  • Keep accurate records of vehicles in the lot, including their status and location.
  • Coordinate with the sales and service departments to manage vehicle inventory effectively.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and dealership policies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding the use and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
Supplies and Equipment:
  • Monitor inventory of detailing supplies and order as necessary.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.
Working Conditions:
  • This position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • The role involves physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Qualifications:
  • Experience required. Applications will not be considered without prior detail and management experience.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills is a must.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
