Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive
Paralegal to join our team in our Pittsburgh office.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a litigation paralegal as well as experience leading other Paralegals.
- Manage and maintain a docket including scheduling, calendaring, tracking deadlines, preparing evidence submissions, communicating with witnesses and appraisers.
- Responsible for a full range of office support administrative duties, including but not limited to requesting information from county or other governmental entities, performing internet research, and preparing basic correspondence
- Draft legal documents, including but not limited to petitions, motions, praecipes, pretrial statements, and responses to interrogatories
- Track, coordinate, and complete all paper and electronic filings
- Communicate with clients and opposing counsel delivering an exceptional level of service.
- Assist other members of the practice and attorneys as needed.
- Supervise a small team of legal assistants, including performance reviews and training.
- Recommend and implement process improvements and efficiencies
- Participate in cross-training activities at both the office and firmwide levels.

Skills and Abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse client base in a professional and service-oriented manner.
- Proficient computer skills and comfortable learning new software programs. Intermediate level Word, Excel and Outlook skills. Experience using a database.
- Basic math skills and ability to convert percentages to decimals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable wearing different hats, assuming different responsibilities and assisting others as the need arises.
- A detail-oriented approach to work and the ability to prioritize workload and deal with stress in a fast-paced work environment. Effective under pressure and high-volume situations with multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative.
- Willingness to dive into demanding situations with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach to problem solving - ability to do what needs to be done to meet deadlines and assist others in a small office environment.
Experience and Educatio n
- 3-5 years law firm experience as a litigation paralegal required
- Paralegal certification or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior management experience required.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
- Perform light work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment such as telephone, copier, scanner, computer, etc.
- Works in a typical office setting.
- Ability to work more than 35 hours in a work week during busy periods. (Required to be in office 5 days a week during the months of March and July for busy filing periods.)
Training period would be 5 days a week in office. Once completed, hybrid schedule, 2 days remote, 3 days in office.
