Career Specialist in Private Equity/Investment Banking
Position Overview
Reporting to the CEO, the Career Specialist in Private Equity/Investment Banking will play a pivotal role in guiding our scholars towards successful careers in these fields. This role involves developing and implementing systems to prepare students for finance industry internships, with the ultimate goal of securing full-time job offers. The Career Specialist will mentor a group of college students through various support mechanisms, including one-on-one coaching, group development sessions, professional development workshops, online courses, and on-site events. As a key contributor to our team, the Career Specialist will also support the enhancement of our learning pathways, curriculum, evaluation tools, and other critical impact measures. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant, positive impact on our scholars' success.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and coach a cohort of scholars through a mix of hybrid, virtual, and in-person experiences, aiming for successful completion of a junior-year private equity or investment banking summer internship.
- Assess and monitor scholar progress using internal rubrics and roadmaps.
- Gather, track, and manage relevant student performance data, providing regular updates to the team and stakeholders.
- Develop and oversee student support systems based on best practices in coaching and cohort development.
- Research and implement best practices from various organizations to continuously improve coaching and cohort programs.
- Cultivate and maintain scholar relationships to ensure retention and success throughout their program lifecycle.
- Establish and manage feedback systems with private equity and investment banking partners to ensure scholar internship success.
- Contribute to the strategic expansion of the program, including planning for scaling student development systems and ensuring internship success.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred, with a focus on relevant subjects.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, particularly in Investment Banking or Private Equity.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and critically analyze the intersections of identity and job performance.
- Proficiency in designing feedback loops and protocols to enhance job performance.
- Strong cross-functional teamwork skills to align programs with stakeholder needs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, leveraging data to inform decisions.
- Proficiency in data tracking and monitoring systems, with strong Excel skills preferred.
- Exceptional presentation skills, both verbal and written, tailored to various audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for program and partner events, including some evening or weekend events.
- Desire to thrive in a start-up environment.
