The Position:

King Family Vineyards seeks a motivated individual for the position of Tasting Room Manager. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in hospitality management, a strong interest in the Virginia wine industry, the desire to work with people as well as the ability to provide excellent customer service. Position includes managing all aspects of the Tasting Room. Candidate must be a positive team player and highly dependable, have the ability to work a flexible schedule, pay acute attention to details, and have sufficient technological confidence to provide support in point of sale operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 21 years of age

Experience managing part-time staff

Strong sales skills and experience in a retail/wine setting

Strong communication skills with ability to speak comfortably to groups

Exemplary customer service skills

Advanced computer skills

Must be able to lift 40-50 lb cases of wine and stand for long periods of time

Professional attitude and strong work ethic

Ability to anticipate needs and exceed expectations of Tasting Room guests

Ability to work within a team environment

Ability to follow instructions and be a self-starter

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set and achieve wine and retail sales goals

Monitor departmental budget, controlling expenditures and maintaining an appropriate labor to sales ratio
Management of food and merchandise program, including ordering, inventory, stocking and management in point of sale

Maintain order and cleanliness of both customer areas and back of house

Make schedule for tasting room; anticipate customer level and staff appropriately for both normal hours and public events/festivals

Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure retail space has necessary signage, menu offerings, and display to create upscale environment with a focus on upselling and maximizing sales

Handle staff concerns, disciplinary issues, and periodic employee reviews

Delegate duties to staff as appropriate when staffing exceeds customer level

Ensure all equipment is maintained and working properly, reporting any maintenance issue to Facilities Team

Troubleshoot technology issues to include point of sale and wifi connectivity

Manage tasting room floor on every weekend and holidays, Wednesday-Sunday
